Die Bedeutung Vanhals ist hauptsächlich in seinem sinfonischen Schaffen zu suchen, mit dem er einer der wichtigsten Mitbegründer der Wiener Sinfonik wurde. Außer seinen Sinfonien ist eine Reihe von Instrumentalkonzerten, Vokal- und Kammermusikwerken überliefert, wobei in der Kammermusik die Flöte eine relativ große Rolle gespielt hat. Bei der Bearbeitung der vorliegenden drei leichten Sonaten - sie sind in der bei Simrock erschienenen Erstausgabe unter dem Titel "Petites Pièces Faciles" zusammen gefasst - wurde, ähnlich den üblichen Ausgaben der Mozartschen Flötensonaten, in der Weise verfahren, dass der Klavierpart der rechten Hand teilweise auf die Flöte übertragen wurde, um den Flötenpart attraktiver zu gestalten. Ansonsten hält sich die Ausgabe weitestgehend an den Text der Erstausgabe.Schwierigkeitsgrad: 1-2

Vanhal\'s importance is to be seen above all in his symphonic writing, through which he became one of the key figures in establishing the Viennese symphonic style. In addition to his symphonies, a series of solo concertos, vocal compositions and chamber works has been left us; in the latter the flute played a relatively important role. The present three easy sonatas (published together in the first edition by Simrock under the title Petites Pieces Faciles) have been prepared using the method of partly transferring the right hand part of the piano into the flute part, in order to render it more attractive - a similar process to that normally used in editing Mozart\'s flute sonatas.
