"Cutting reeds" symbolizes a sustainable way of dealing with a cultural landscape. Following this idea, this book attempts to spatially grasp the current structures around Lake Neusiedl and to analyze their characteristics programmatically, typologically and morphologically within the historical context, in order to formulate contemporary questions and answers concerning the cultural and natural landscape of the reed belt. The commodification of the lake, the socio-spatial integration of the structures within the villages and the destruction of the natural habitat due to construction activities and human lifestyle are being discussed.
